Meet the Team

  • Dayna Jones-Drouin (she/her)

    Co-Director

    Dayna is a third-year Film Studies major, with a minor in Interdisciplinary Sexuality Studies. Dayna is passionate about feminist and queer cinema and uses these theoretical and thematic frameworks within her own filmmaking. In a collaborative effort with fellow co-director, Rebecca Chankowski, she hopes to facilitate connection and community across the Fine Arts faculty through a shared love of moving images and visual culture.

    Co-Director

    Rebecca is a fourth year student in Specialization in Film Studies with a minor in Theater. She is passionate about film analysis and interested in film exhibition and production. She loves found footage films, re-examining 1950s Hollywood movies and World Cinema. She was a programmer for the Canadian Fiction Spotlight in the CFF’s 49th edition, head programmer of the Documentary section for the 50th along with being the Co-Directing Assistant. She was also a member of the student Jury of Pleins Écrans’s 7th edition.

  • Lia MacKinnon (they/them)

    Co-Directing Assistant

    Lia is a fourth year Interdisciplinary Sexuality Studies and Film Studies double-major student and anarcho-queer activist. They’ve served the festival in multiple roles since 2020, and are currently focusing their efforts on special event screenings. Their passion is in queer cinema and the politics of representation.

  • Sam Claire Greco (they/them)

    Head of Programming & Visions

    Sam is a Film Studies major at Concordia University, currently working as the Head Programmer of the CFF. They are a diehard fan and maker of weird cinema, and can bake an excellent cheesecake. Their personal artwork explores time, memory, dreams, and mortality through an experimental and absurdist lens. When they’re not binging David Lynch’s short films, Sam can be found organizing their vintage toy collection or playing with their pet cats.

  • Avery Burnham (they/them)

    Visions Programmer

    Avery is a third-year Film Studies major who is primarily interested in queer cinema. They are passionate about lesbian cinema and analyzing film through the lens of queer film theory. Avery enjoys writing, filmmaking and making visual art. Their favourite animal is turtles (which is just a fun fact they wanted to mention).

  • Spencer Dorsey (they/them)

    Visions Programmer

    Spencer Dorsey; Actor, filmmaker, performer. Overall they find their purpose in creating art and entertainment. Currently based in Montreal, they are studying film production at Concordia University with a focus on experimental and comedy films which explore the complexities of today's youth culture. Outside of school they are a performer who infuses popular dance styles with burlesque, using electronic pop music as their soundtrack. As an actor they try to find roles which allows them to fully explore and express their queer identity which has landed them in a few experimental films and comedic plays. Lastly, Spencer Dorsey is one of the heads of the successful collective Chrysalis which creates events which platforms new 2SLGBTQIA+ performers and gives them a stage to begin their career.

    Adrian is a 5th year film studies student who is proud to be a part of CFF for the first time. They have a strong interest in film festival curation and an overwhelming love for the art of cinema. Programming for the visions category is probably the most fulfilling thing they’ve done in years!

    Leo is a second-year student in the Communication and Cultural Studies program. He loved working with the CFF last year as one of the panelists of ‘Emerging Voices,’ and he is thrilled to have worked on the Visions section this year!

    Guillaume is a second year member of the CFF and he's currently doing a Specialization in Film Studies. An avid film lover, he has also written and directed a few short films.

    Dolores is a third year Art History & Film student at Concordia University interested in the feminist study of film history & historiography. Focused mainly on pre- and post-Hays Code Hollywood, she aims to pursue a career allowing her to research and study these two decades of American cinema from a contemporary and intersectional feminist lens.

    Akhan is a Concordia film studies undergraduate. Formed by childhood cinephilia and jobs in various departments of film/TV/commercial productions, he now passionately works at the Cinéma Public with CFF alum Charlotte Lehoux.

    Norah is working for the Concordia Film Festival as a programmer for the experimental section. She is a 2nd year film production student whose main area of interest is body horror.

    Head of Lights Out

    Kevin is a Lebanese filmmaker, writer, and musician based in Montreal. He occasionally dons the video-essayist hat, creating works ranging from broader issues in film theory to film-specific discourses. His group, Pēlikel (ig: @pelikelmusic), are currently developing their second record, dropping later this year.

    Lola is a fifth-year student at Concordia University, specializing in Film Studies with a minor in English Literature. Passionate about film and media, Lola has experience in video editing, script coverage, and writing film reviews. She now serves as a programmer for the Lights Out section at the Concordia Film Festival.

    From Canadian Hollywood (i.e. Vancouver), Kayce is a first year film studies student and aspiring storyboard artist. Scifi and horror have been her go-to genres since childhood, with a particular interest in films from outside the Anglophone world.

    Alexis is a Québécois film student and devoted cinephile with a passion for film criticism. Inspired by visionaries like Kelly Reichardt and Hal Hartley, he aspires to create his own independently spirited films.

    Adriel is a student at Concordia University in economics. In high school, ELAYDO loved manipulating numbers and cracking mathematical equations. Therefore, his contribution to the 51st edition of the CFF will serve him well knowledge and experience for the future.

    Emitees, a student in the Art History and History BFA program at Concordia University, recently joined the team as the Finance Coordinator. With a keen eye for detail and attention to detail, she assists in ensuring a smooth financial operation. Beyond finance, Emitees indulges in exploring art and history, focusing on pre-modern Middle Eastern art.

    Sophie is a second year student in Film Studies at Concordia University. She has much experience in film festivals such as Fantasia and Concordia from the past years. Her favorite film genres are animation and Hong Kong movies.

    Lea is a Syrian-Armenian first year Film Production major and it is her first year working with the CFF. As the social media and communications coordinator, she's exposed to many different sides of what goes into working in film festivals.
